Community involvement

We believe that it’s more important than ever to feel connected to our local communities. At Kids Planet, we strive to support our local organisations and charities through fundraising events, sponsorships, and by offering extra support to families in need.

Corporate Social Responsibility

We’re passionate about Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and we’re committed to working in partnership with our people, parents, charities, and our local communities. Our CSR activities include:

Caring for the environment

As interest and awareness of sustainability grows, we believe that investing in the education of our children is the most effective way to provide a sustainable environment into the future. In practice, that means encouraging all our employees to leave our environment fit for the next generation to enjoy a healthy life. Here’s just some of the ways we’re doing this:

  • Supporting local authority recycling initiatives
  • Helping parents who wish to use reusable nappies
  • Educating our teams so they can carry out activities in an environmentally responsible manner
  • Reviewing the amount of single use items across each nursery in favour of natural resources, many sourced from Charity shops.
  • Udeskole accreditation – facilitating opportunities to unlock the potential of the outdoors

Supporting families in our communities

We value the strong links we make with our local communities and understand that such partnerships are a vital part of a child’s learning and development. Here’s just some of the ways we’re supporting our communities:

  • Hosting intergenerational meet ups via zoom with care homes, and sending  #PostcardsOfKindness to help combat loneliness and isolation.
  • Delivering hamper boxes to local volunteer centres
  • Supporting families in need either through financial difficulty, bereavement or long-term illness.
  • Providing resources to community hubs such as libraries and children’s centres
  • Offering free classes and activities for local parents from baby messy play to preschool art
  • Sponsoring local grass sports roots teams
  • Fundraising for local and national charities
  • Supporting the homeless and vulnerable families in Warrington during the Winter via our #KeepWarmWarrington appeal
  • Providing free meals for children on 15 hours funded places
  • Offering funded-only children in deprived areas a free packed lunch on the days they don’t attend.

Flyde Rugby’s Rugratz Rugby Programme

We’re proud to sponsor Fylde Rugby Community Foundation’s Rugratz Rugby Pathway Programme which encourages preschool-aged children to get involved in the sport of rugby. The programme aims to encourage parents and children to get involved in sports from an early age which helps boost their confidence, motor skills and teamwork. Kids Planet Kilimanjaro Climb

In March 2022, our CEO Clare successfully completed her mission to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Warrington Youth Zone.  Warrington Youth Zone is set to be an inspiring, innovative safe space for people ages 7 to 19 (up to age 25 for those with additional needs) and will provide these young people with an enriching environment to learn and grow. Learn more about the climb and how we’ve raised over £24,000 here.

Looking after our people’s careers and wellbeing

Our people are important to us. We pride ourselves on looking after them, valuing, and recognising hard work because we believe childcare is a profession, not just a job. Our Kids Planet Training Academy has been recognised by Elevate EBP and given Elevate EBP Patron status for our valued work to support young people in their early years careers in Liverpool. Read more about it here.

Other ways we support our teams:

  • We employ a dedicated Wellbeing Manager as we understand the pressures that come with work (and life!).
  • Through our in-house Training Academy, we provide numerous training and career progression  opportunities including the launch of a Chef Academy, Sports Coach Traineeship and our Men In Childcare campaign to help build a gender-diverse workforce.
  • We provide breakfasts and snacks to all our teams because we know that starting the day with a nutritious breakfast can help improve the overall health and well-being of our people.
  • Upon joining our family, we provide everyone with an Employee Assistance Programme which provides around the clock mental health support.
