Kids Planet Lymm are proud to announce they have been awarded Millie’s Mark. Millie’s Mark is awarded to nurseries that have 100% staff trained in paediatric first aid. The nursery, which is one of two in Warrington to have gained Millie’s Mark, have worked extremely hard and each and every one of the staff are extremely pleased.
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) guidelines, which childcare settings in England are required to follow, currently state that just one person with a current paediatric first aid certificate must be on the premises and available at all times when children are present or on outings. Millie’s Mark is awarded as a special endorsement to childcare providers that go above and beyond these minimum requirements by having 100% of staff trained in paediatric first aid, and also ensuring that everything learned during the course is kept alive and in the forefront of practitioners’ minds so that they are confident, ready and capable.
When a setting gains the Millie’s Mark accreditation, reassurance is provide for parents that all childcare practitioners know what to do in a paediatric first aid situation. It acknowledges that children’s safety is at the forefront our nursery’s mind when they care for children.
Naomi Read, Nursery Manager said, “We are very proud to have achieved Millie’s Mark accreditation at Kids Planet Lymm. This means that 100% of our staff are fully trained in paediatric first aid and therefore prepared to deal with any first aid emergency that may occur at nursery. I believe it’s so important that all staff in nursery settings are trained in paediatric first aid and feel that the Millie’s Mark award is such a positive initiative to encourage this”.
