Family fun in Chesterfield and beyond

Blog

9 April 2019

From animal attractions to indoor play to exploring the world underground, it seems there is lots of fun to be had for all the family in the Chesterfield area. So, whether it’s a preschooler with something to learn or a toddler with energy to burn, here’s our highlights if you’re planning a visit with young children or are a new parent to the area!

Barrow Hill Roundhouse Railway Centre – visit the last surviving railway roundhouse in the UK where children can take part in the ’24 objects Roundhouse Trail’.

Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife and Falconry Centre – see the lemurs, check out a parrot display, meet an owl, handle a snake and take a walk in the free flying butterfly house.

Jungle Play Centre, the biggest soft indoor play centre in the East Midlands, suitable for children up to 11 years old.

Creswell Crags – take a cave tour underground with an expert guide to discover what Creswell Crags were like during the last Ice Age.

Chesterfield Museum – children can follow the trail around the Museum finding out why the church has a crooked spire.

Matlock Farm Park – meet the animals, enjoy the go-karts or try your luck in the new indoor rainforest play barn.

We’re excited to be joining the Chesterfield community so if you’re a family looking for childcare for babies until preschool age in Brampton, Newbold, Chesterfield, Sheepbridge and North Wingfield get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
