A national award for quality has been presented to Kids Planet Adswood.
The Quality Mark Award, Tracking for Success identifies the ongoing work being done by the nursery to close the gap for the most vulnerable children in this above average area of deprivation.
The award has been developed by leading education charity Achievement for All (AfA), which offers support programmes to schools and settings to help them improve outcomes in the lowest achieving 20 per cent.
Achievement for All is a leading not-for-profit organisation that works in partnership with early years settings, schools and colleges, improving outcomes for all children and young people vulnerable to underachievement regardless of background, challenge or need.
As part of the programme, Kids Planet Adswood have been tracking a cohort of two-year olds from the commencement of funding through to leaving to start school. The awarding body noted that during this time tasks such as, ‘Time for Talk’ have been helpful to support a child’s learning at home and as a result have had a positive impact on overall outcomes for the children.
It was also highlighted that the child progress tracker has enabled staff members at the setting located in the Abacus Children’s Centre in Adswood, to swiftly identify gaps in children’s learning and provide precisely targeted interventions and support. Data from the project at the end of year 1 showed that progress and attainment of the target cohort was good, and the gap was closing.
Nursery Manager, Beth Breddy said: “We are delighted to receive this award from AfA as testament to the hard work and dedication put in from the whole team at Kids Planet Adswood. We are focused on closing the gap for the most vulnerable children in this area and we have plans in place to continually improve the quality of our provision.”
