Our Billinge Nursery Support Marie Curie

Billinge

23 November 2017

Kids Planet Billinge held a Marie Curie Day last week. The children and staff from Kids Planet Billinge dressed in yellow, painted yellow pictures, lots of yellow activities and also planted some lovely daffodils in the garden ready for spring.

Marie Curie care for people living with a terminal illness at home. Whether its dementia, cancer, motor neurone disease, heart failure, Parkinson’s disease, or any other illness, Marie Curie can be here for you and your family to help you cope after a terminal diagnosis. This includes treating or managing pain and other symptoms with medicines, therapies and other specialist approaches. It also means giving emotional support to patients and families when needed most.
Sophie Yates from Marie Curie said “I just want to say a huge thank you to Kids Planet Billinge for all your effort. It was really really lovely to see the children getting involved and the effort the nursery went to with the Marie Curie day, especially with how busy the nursery already is! I am so grateful for your support, and I can’t wait to see all of the daffodils come out and make the nursery look bright!”

Jennifer Hurst, Nursery Manager said “We chose to have a charity day in aid of Marie Curie as it is a charity close to many of our hearts. As a child I was involved in planting daffodils along Birchley Road in Billinge and to see them bloom every year in Spring is a poignant memory to all those effected by terminal illness. We choose to plant daffodils in our garden with the children as they are bright and colourful but also represent all those effected by terminal illness. We had a fantastic day for our charity day, we all dressed in yellow and we also had a bake sale. We hope to have raised awareness of Marie Curie and the incredible work that they do. We would like to thank all our facilities and staff for their support and we would also like to thank Pimbo Garden Centre for their help with providing the daffodil bulbs.”
