Kids Planet Greenbank Park have partnered up with The Newborn Appeal based at Liverpool Womens Hospital Neonatal Unit. The nursery have created a collection and donation point in the nursery reception, as well as holding events taking place throughout the year to raise money and supporting the Appeal on an ongoing basis.
The Newborn Appeal would like donations of pink, blue, lemon and white wool. The knitters need full balls of double knit yarn to make cardigans, booties, blankets and hats that are sold on the stall at the hospital to raise money for the Neonatal Unit. Please feel free to drop any donations that you have at the nursery reception.
Nadia Alsafaar, Fundraising Manager, said “We are excited to be working with Kids Planet and are so grateful for their support of The Newborn Appeal at Liverpool Women’s Charity. The appeal funds specialist equipment and research into the care of neonates and all money raised will go to the Neonatal Unit here at Liverpool Women’s hospital to help with the care of the special babies. Thank you very much for Kids Planet for raising funds for the Neonatal Unit!”.
On 1st May the appeal became part of Liverpool Women’s Charity, and is therefore no longer a separate registered charity. We still do the exact same (raising money for the Neonatal Unit) but as part of the main hospital charity ‘Kitty’. The Newborn Appeal was launched in April 1992 with the aims of; to purchase specialised equipment for sick babies over and above the normal NHS provision, to improve the quality of care in the Neonatal Unit and to support research and to maintain a unique research programme that places the care of the newborn within Merseyside as its forefront.
