On 16th April, 25 children from Kids Planet Clifton Lodge and Shepherd Lodge nurseries took part in a parent/child day at Fylde Rugby Club.
As Kids Planet proudly sponsors the Rugratz Rugby initiative with Fylde Rugby Community Foundation, the day was organised to introduce more children to the coaching opportunities.
Phill Mills, Head of Community Coaching at Fylde Rugby Community Foundation, said:
“It was great to see so many Kids Planet children attend the Kids Planet Rugratz Rugby Day hosted at Fylde Rugby Club, where the kids and parents had great fun and had lots of smiles on faces throughout.
They had the chance to meet the Fylde Rugby Club’s 1st team players to sign autographs, took part in a Rugratz Rugby session delivered by the Foundations Community Rugby Coaches and also created a guard of honour for the game. It was fantastic to see the next generation of Rugratz Rugby players have an enjoyable afternoon and take part in rugby activities.”
Sports and getting outside in nature is important to Kids Planet, and since December 2021, Kids Planet has been partnering with Vocational Skills Solutions to provide a Traineeship Programme that supports sports coaches into early years settings.
Two sports coaches from Kids Planet, Kieren Heron and Joe Green worked alongside Phill Mills, Head of Community Coaching during the session.
Kieren Heron, Sports Development Manager at Kids Planet, said:
“All the parents and children had a fantastic day, playing catch with the rugby team, making guards of honour, and the successful afternoon even ended with the parents and children watching Fylde play against Hull. We already have the wheels in motion for the next event!”
