Located in the heart of Thornton, our Kids Planet Thornton nursery has close community links, and this month was pleased to receive a visit from Fleetwood Town Football Team.
Emily Rogers, Nursery Manager at Kids Planet Thornton, said:
“The children have had a lovely time taking part in football with Fleetwood Town Football Club with coach Josh. Combining play and learning, preschool have been learning about their body parts in group time, we played a game where coach Josh would call out a body part and the children would have to place that body part on the football. It has been a great success!”
There are many benefits of outdoor play for children, such as building a strong relationship with others, supporting physical health, promoting risk awareness, and language development and understanding of concepts.
Kids Planet also sponsor the Fylde Rugby Community Foundation’s Rugratz Rugby Pathway Programme, an initiative to engage preschool-aged children in the sport of rugby.
Phill Mills, the Foundation’s Head of Community Coaching, said: “There are many benefits for toddler sports, including aiding in their development, improving social and communication skills, helping with focus, and facilitating parents and guardians to bond through our parent participation.”
With the recent emphasis on physical development and on healthier childhoods, Kids Planet has employed sports coaches (Sports Development Officers) across some of our sites, aiming to get more active and promote sport participation.
Kids Planet Thornton is a beautifully equipped nursery led by a highly qualified and enthusiastic team, and we coin it a small nursery with a big heart!
