Staff and children from Kids Planet Chester have helped create and bury a time capsule under the grounds of their brand-new nursery being built at Chester Rugby Club.
The capsule features group pictures of children with their staff, artwork by the children and pictures of the current nursery on the same site. The new nursery on Hare Lane is due to open in April 2021.
Children from the nursery’s preschool were helped to bury the capsule by Lord Mayor of Chester Mark Williams, Project Manager for Short Construction, Chris Backhouse and CEO of Kids Planet, Clare Roberts.
Speaking on the day, Nursery Manager Elly Davy said: “We are delighted to have buried the time capsule under the grounds of what will become our new nursery play area. The children have eagerly watched the new build take shape and enjoyed getting creative and thinking about what to include”.
The Chester nursery, recently awarded Ofsted outstanding, is part of the family-owned Kids Planet Day Nurseries which has 52 settings across the Midlands and north west – the first nursery having opened in Warrington in 2008. The new single-storey nursery will accommodate up to 110 children from babies through to preschool. It will feature a range of outdoor play areas, a sensory room, secure door entry system and visitor parking.
Clare Roberts said: “We’re excited about the new nursery which will build upon the excellent care and education we already provide to families in the local community. We’re delighted to be welcoming new families to the Kids Planet family this spring”.
