School Readiness

Building strong foundations

Our School Readiness Programme helps children build the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for a positive start at school.

How we help children get ready for school

Confident Communicators

Through stories, conversations and group activities, we help children express themselves, build friendships and ask for help.

Growing Independence

We encourage children to make choices, practise everyday routines and develop the practical skills they'll need at school.

Curious Learners

Through purposeful play and hands-on activities, we encourage curiosity, develop problem-solving skills and build confidence in learning.

Learning through purposeful play

Our School Readiness Programme combines early literacy, communication and mathematical understanding with creativity and problem-solving.

Our experienced team turn everyday play into meaningful learning opportunities, encouraging children to investigate, ask questions and develop new skills.

There should be a lot of emphasis on the way we learn rather than what specifically they are learning before going to school.

Building independence every day

We give children opportunities to practise the everyday skills they’ll use at school, from managing buttons and zips to looking after their belongings. We support families when it’s time for their children to start toilet training, and practice hygienic and independent toilet habits when they are ready.

Through encouragement, familiar routines and age-appropriate responsibilities, our practitioners help children become increasingly confident in doing things for themselves.

Growing confidence for what's next

Starting school brings new people, routines and experiences. We help children prepare through conversations, stories and activities that encourage them to explore their feelings.

By following each child’s interests and offering reassurance, our practitioners help make the move to school feel more familiar.

Working alongside families

Preparing for the next chapter together, we work closely with families throughout the preschool years, sharing progress, celebrating achievements and discussing the transition to school.

Where possible, we also work with receiving schools to help children become familiar with their new environment and prepare for the changes ahead.

Your school readiness questions answered

No. School readiness goes beyond reading and writing. Our programme develops early literacy alongside communication, independence, social skills and a love of learning.

We’ll work with you to understand how your child feels, offering reassurance and activities that help them become familiar with the changes ahead.

Reading together, talking about school and encouraging everyday independence can all help. Your nursery team can suggest activities based on your child’s interests and individual needs.
