Keeping children safe every day
When choosing a nursery, nothing matters more than knowing your child is safe, protected and cared for.
Genuine care demands the highest standards
Keeping children safe starts with genuinely caring about their wellbeing.
At Kids Planet, that care is reflected in the standards we set, the decisions we make and the culture we create across every nursery. Safeguarding isn’t simply about meeting statutory requirements. It’s about creating environments where children feel safe, valued and protected, and where families have confidence in the care we provide.
Robust safeguarding practices underpin everything we do, from safer recruitment and ongoing training to secure environments, digital safeguarding and close partnership with families. It is a responsibility shared by every colleague, every day.
Our safeguarding commitment
Every colleague at Kids Planet has a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
Our approach includes rigorous safer recruitment, mandatory safeguarding and child protection training, trained Designated Safeguarding Leads in every nursery, clear procedures for identifying and reporting concerns, and strong partnerships with families and safeguarding professionals.
Our policies, procedures and practice are regularly reviewed to reflect current legislation and recognised best practice.
Safeguarding is embedded into our daily practice, governance and decision-making, creating a culture where children’s welfare always comes first.
Safer recruitment and professional development
Every colleague joins Kids Planet through a comprehensive safer recruitment process, including enhanced DBS checks, references, identity verification, qualification checks and all statutory suitability requirements.
Recruitment is only the beginning. Every new colleague completes a structured induction and receives ongoing safeguarding training, supervision and professional development throughout their career.
This helps ensure our teams remain confident in recognising concerns, responding appropriately and fulfilling their safeguarding responsibilities.
Safeguarding in practice
Effective safeguarding relies on vigilance, professional curiosity and a culture where every concern is taken seriously.
Our colleagues are trained to recognise signs that a child may be at risk of harm and understand their responsibility to act promptly, record concerns accurately and follow established safeguarding procedures.
Each nursery is supported by trained Designated Safeguarding Leads who provide guidance, oversight and leadership, helping to ensure concerns are managed appropriately and referred to the relevant agencies where necessary.
Keeping children safe in a digital world
Safeguarding extends beyond the physical nursery environment.
Our approach includes clear policies around mobile devices, photography and video, secure systems for storing and sharing children’s information, appropriate use of technology within our nurseries and ongoing colleague training in online safety.
We also maintain robust measures to protect children’s privacy and personal information, reviewing our approach as technology, legislation and emerging risks continue to develop.
Working in partnership with families
Keeping children safe is a shared responsibility.
We believe strong partnerships with families help create the best outcomes for children. Open communication, mutual trust and shared understanding enable us to provide consistent support and respond quickly whenever concerns arise.
Where safeguarding concerns are identified, we will always act in the best interests of the child, following our safeguarding procedures and fulfilling our statutory responsibilities.
Policies and procedures
Our safeguarding arrangements are supported by comprehensive policies and procedures covering areas including child protection and safeguarding, safer recruitment, whistleblowing, health and safety, online safety, mobile devices, photography and video, missing children, attendance and collection, first aid and medication, behaviour management and complaints.
Copies of our safeguarding policies are available from your nursery on request.
Our commitment to every child
Safeguarding is not a standalone policy or procedure. It is fundamental to the way we care for children.
By combining robust safeguarding practices with genuine care, professional expertise and a culture of accountability, we create environments where children feel secure, families feel confident and every child is free to learn, explore and thrive.
I’d specifically keep more substance on this page than we have on Outdoor Learning or School Readiness. The main edit I’ve made is removing duplication rather than removing reassurance or evidence.
