Starting & Settling In

Helping your child feel at home

Starting nursery can feel daunting for children and parents alike. We take time to get to know your child and work closely with you to help them feel safe and settled.

Settling-in sessions

Before your child’s first day, you’ll be invited to attend settling-in sessions together. These give your child time to explore the nursery, meet their key person and begin getting used to the people, spaces and routines around them.

We usually recommend a few sessions, but there’s no set limit. Every child is different, and some may need a little more time to feel comfortable. We give them the time and reassurance they need before starting independently.

Your child’s key person

Your child’s key person will be one of the familiar faces they see each day.

By taking the time to understand your child’s interests, routines and individual needs, they provide consistency and reassurance during those important early weeks and as your child becomes more confident in nursery life.

Working with families

No one knows your child better than you. Before they start, we’ll talk through everything from favourite activities and sleep routines to comforters, dietary needs and any worries you may have.

We’ll keep you updated throughout the settling-in period, sharing how your child is getting on and making any adjustments needed along the way.

Every child settles in differently. By taking the time to understand each child and family, we can create the foundations for a happy, positive start to nursery life.
