A Dedicated Team Behind Your Child

At Kids Planet, you are never navigating your child’s developmental journey alone. We provide a unique, two-tiered layer of support for families:

1. Your Nursery SENDCo

Based directly inside your child’s nursery, your Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) works closely with you and your child’s key worker every day to tailor their care and learning.

2. The Central SEND Team

Our central SEND team provides advanced support, advice, and guidance to the nursery SENDCo. They uphold high aspirations for children with additional needs, embed best practices, and provide specialized in-house training for our practitioners.

Creating an Inclusive Environment

Attending a high-quality inclusive setting can help support young children who are at risk of, or have faced, inequality and discrimination. To be a truly inclusive provider, we proactively remove factors that act as barriers to inclusion, such as negativity, bias, and stereotyping.

Effective inclusive practice ensures all children have access to opportunities and support during their earliest, most influential years. It empowers children to be confident in who they are and what they aspire to be.

Kids Planet is a safe space where parents, staff, and children learn about each other’s differences and similarities—learning to empathise with and value one another.

Navigating Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP)

In most cases, a child with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities will be fully supported through the Kids Planet Graduated Approach, using targeted strategies and interventions from appropriate external specialists.

However, if your child needs a higher level of support—particularly when preparing to transition to primary school—we can request that the Local Authority carries out an assessment for an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

We handle the heavy lifting:

You will not have to manage this complex process alone. Your Nursery SENDCo will lead the EHCP application process in full partnership with you and an Educational Psychologist. At this stage, the central Kids Planet SEND Team will also sit down with you to discuss the various school options available in your local area to find the setting that will best suit your child’s unique needs.
