It’s been a busy and magical festive season at Kids Planet Leeds Church Walk, right in the heart of Leeds City Centre! From heartwarming charity efforts to a joyful carol concert, the nursery community has truly embraced the spirit of Christmas. Let’s take a closer look at the festive highlights.
Spreading Christmas Cheer with Local Charities
This Christmas, the nursery has gone above and beyond to support two amazing Leeds charities: Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm and The Sick Children’s Trust at Eckersley House.
Families from the nursery community came together on Thursday, 12th December, to contribute gifts as part of a festive donation drive. These thoughtful gifts will help bring joy to those in need during the holiday season.
- Leeds Children’s Charity at Lineham Farm transforms lives by offering disadvantaged children unforgettable residential stays in the countryside. These experiences build confidence, resilience, and lasting memories in a safe and nurturing environment.
- The Sick Children’s Trust at Eckersley House provides free accommodation for families with seriously ill children, keeping them close to the hospital and easing the stress of being apart during challenging times.
Earlier this year, Kids Planet Leeds Church Walk raised £88.92 for these charities during their summer fayre and other events, showing their ongoing commitment to supporting local causes.
Lauren Sheldrick, Deputy Manager, shared her thoughts:
“It’s heartwarming to see the generosity of our families and the impact these donations can have on the lives of others. Supporting these charities, especially at this time of year, is such a rewarding experience.”
A Carol Concert to Remember at Leeds Minster
The nursery’s festive celebrations continued with their second annual carol concert at Leeds Minster on 12th December. This magical event featured 36 children, aged 2-4, performing Christmas songs for an audience of over 50 proud parents and carers.
Children from the Toddlers, Rising Threes, and Pre-School groups delighted the crowd with a mix of classic carols and festive tunes. The historic Leeds Minster, located just across the road from the nursery, provided the perfect backdrop for the concert.
Over the past few weeks, the children worked hard to prepare, learning lyrics and perfecting their singing with the help of the dedicated nursery team. The result? A heartwarming performance that left parents full of pride.
One parent shared:
“It was so special to see how much effort the children put into their performance. The setting at Leeds Minster made it even more magical!”
Lauren Sheldrick reflected on the event:
“Watching the children perform with such confidence and joy is a true highlight of the year. We’re incredibly grateful to Leeds Minster for hosting us and love bringing families together to share the festive spirit.”
