Beamont

22 May 2016

Our Kids Planet Lymm, Beamont and Warrington nurseries have been awarded the Healthier Together Award.

The Healthier Together Award’s main objective is to ensure that children in the Borough have better health behaviours leading to improved health and wellbeing outcomes which will stay with them in later life. The Award has four aims:

  • To ensure that settings are providing food and drink which meets the EBSB guidelines
  • To promote best practice and reward high standards
  • To support holistic whole-setting approaches to food
  • To contribute to a reduction in childhood overweight and obesity within Warrington.

The Healthier Together Award is achieved by giving the children in their care the best start in life by exceeding the Children’s Food Trust’s Eat Better Start Better guideline. The nurseries have ensured that good nutrition is key and important for children aged under five to:

  • Ensure that they get the right amount of energy (calories) and nutrients needed while they are growing rapidly
  • Ensure that they do not consume too much energy (calories), which may lead to children becoming overweight or obese
  • Encourage them to eat a wide variety of foods and develop good dietary habits to take with them into later childhood and beyond.
