Our place on the prestigious list is driven by feedback gathered from our employee engagement survey, measuring the extent to which everyone across the company feels about the culture we’ve developed collectively, making us a truly great workplace for all.
Kids Planet’s culture hasn’t changed since our founder and CEO, Clare Roberts, opened our first nursery in 2008 to the 203 we have today. Our CARE values of Community, A safe place, Reflective, and Excellence, are alive in Kids Planet to guide our behaviours, actions and decision-making, and set the tone for regular colleague activities throughout the group.
As a whole, the Early Years sector is facing challenges in recruitment and retention. Our focused initiatives to ensure colleagues feel supported, motivated and cared for have really helped us stay ahead of these sector challenges. We have an excellent opportunity to attract early-career candidates and, through our comprehensive training programmes, qualifications through our own Training Academy and progression opportunities across our Nurseries, we can support them in building a long and fulfilling career with us.
During the past year, over 200 of our colleagues have achieved qualifications through our Training Academy from Level 2 up to Masters Degree, 465 have gained role promotions, and we’ve improved colleague retention by 10%.

The Best Workplaces in Education &Training™ list is created using the anonymous feedback from employees working in the industry about their workplace experience.
Great Place To Work® UK administered their research-backed Trust Index© employee survey and analysed the responses of UK-based consulting and professional services employees to determine the Best Workplaces™ list. The surveys asked employees to comment on how their company supports their work-life balance, sense of fulfilment, job satisfaction, psychological safety and financial security. Evaluations also included an assessment of how well the organisation was able to deliver consistency of their employee experience across all departments and seniority levels.
