Kids Planet Day Nurseries is delighted to announce its sponsorship of a major new initiative to encourage more young people to participate in sport from an early age.
We have agreed to a three-year deal to sponsor the Fylde Rugby Community Foundation’s Rugratz Rugby Pathway Programme, an initiative to engage preschool-aged children in the sport of rugby.
The sessions include fun games and coaching new skills, and the support from Kids Planet will enable parents, guardians, and infants – who wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford to attend these sessions – to participate.
Phill Mills, the Foundation’s Head of Community Coaching, said: “There are many benefits for toddler sports, including aiding in their development, improving social and communication skills, helping with focus, and facilitating parents and guardians to bond through our parent participation. Thanks to Kids Planet, we can now help more toddlers to discover a love of sport which we hope will last a lifetime.”
Following a session from Phill at Shepherd Lodge Nursery, Lisa Taylor, Area Manager, said: “The children all thoroughly enjoyed their session, especially when they got to practice their goal kicks through an actual goal post! They also enjoyed playing Tag Rugby and practicing their throwing and catching skills.
They are getting really good at Tag Rugby and impressed Phill with their understanding of the game. Seeing the enjoyment and benefits our children have received from this programme convinced us to support the Foundation to enable more children to participate in this great activity.”
Quality coaching is delivered by Amelia Bullock, the Rugby Development Manager at Fylde Rugby Community Foundation, designed to improve eye-to-hand coordination and social skills in a safe, fun, sporting environment.
Kids Planet Rugratz Rugby will run for a 5-week block leading up to Christmas with a further block of sessions looking to start in the new year. This is a block of sessions that work with pre-school children aged 3 – 5 will be running from Lytham St Anne’s High School. The sessions run from 10:00am -11.00am on Saturdays with the first session that started on the 20th of November 2021.
