We’re excited to introduce our 1,000 Little Adventures Challenge – a new initiative designed to inspire children across Kids Planet to spend more time outdoors, exploring, learning and growing through nature.
With modern childhood increasingly shaped by indoor activities and screen time, the challenge encourages every child to enjoy 1,000 hours outdoors before they start school.
Inspired by a global movement led by parenting expert Ginny Yurich, it’s about embracing those everyday outdoor moments that support children’s development in meaningful ways.
At Kids Planet, outdoor learning is at the heart of what we do.
Across our nurseries, we create opportunities for children to explore, discover and build confidence through nature-based experiences every day.
From outdoor play and sensory exploration to structured activities, time spent outside supports children’s wellbeing, resilience, and social development.
The 1,000 Little Adventures Challenge brings this approach to life beyond the nursery too – encouraging families to be part of the journey at home.
A shared journey between home and nursery
Each child will receive their own Adventure Passport (Activity Booklet) – designed to make outdoor time simple, fun and accessible at home.
Every adventure counts, including:
A walk in the park
Playing in the garden
Exploring somewhere new
As children complete each activity, they can track their progress and watch their journey grow.
Passports can also be brought into nursery, where our teams will support children in marking off experiences from their day – creating a shared sense of achievement between home and nursery.
Celebrating every milestone
Progress is celebrated every step of the way.
As children move through the challenge:
Adventure trackers can be refreshed
Milestones are recognised and celebrated
Certificates mark each achievement – from 100 hours to 1,000
Every step matters, and every milestone is worth celebrating.
Creating meaningful moments
At its heart, the challenge is about simple, meaningful experiences outdoors.
Moments like:
Splashing in puddles
Spotting wildlife
Spending time in fresh air with friends and family
By working together – nurseries and families – we can help children build confidence, curiosity and a lifelong connection with the world around them.
Join the adventure
We can’t wait to see all the amazing ways our children get involved.
Speak to your nursery team to get started, and feel free to share your child’s adventures along the way.
