About Us

Kids Planet Ansdell

Kids Planet Ansdell was rated Ofsted Outstanding in February 2025, recognising the team’s passion, quality of teaching, and commitment to creating a warm, community-focused environment.

Based within Ansdell Primary School and located right beside Ansdell Park, the nursery benefits from access to a large open field, allowing children to enjoy daily outdoor play, games, and sports sessions led by our two dedicated sports coaches. Physical activity and outdoor exploration are at the heart of our approach, helping children build strength, confidence, and teamwork skills in a fun, inclusive way.

Our nursery also features a dedicated Udeskole outdoor learning area with a fire pit, where children experience hands-on learning, cook outdoors, and explore nature safely under the guidance of Marysia, who is fully trained in fire safety and outdoor teaching.

As a small and close-knit nursery, all our children and families benefit from a strong sense of community — everyone knows everyone, and every child is known and valued by every member of staff. This creates a truly personal environment where children feel happy, secure, and supported as they grow, learn, and thrive.

Alex Shaw

Manager

Alex Shaw is the Nursery Manager at Kids Planet Ansdell.

I am the Nursery Manager at Kids Planet Ansdell and I am incredibly proud to lead our Ofsted Outstanding nursery, a rating we achieved in February 2025. I began working in early years in 2019 after qualifying as a teacher, developing a real love for supporting children’s learning and growth through play and exploration.
I have a strong passion for the outdoors and sports, and this is reflected throughout our nursery. Our setting has a true Udeskole outdoor education feel, where children are encouraged to connect with nature, build confidence, and learn through hands-on experiences.
I am dedicated to creating a happy, nurturing environment where children and families feel safe, valued, and inspired every day.

Learning Beyond Walls

Outdoor learning is part of everyday life. As a Udeskole-accredited setting, our outdoor space is thoughtfully designed to inspire curiosity and resilience. Children can explore nature, get hands-on in our planting areas, and enjoy meaningful experiences in our dedicated tipi space, whether it’s storytelling, quiet reflection, or group learning. Whatever the weather, we believe the best classrooms don’t always have walls.

Little hands making a big difference

Caring for Our Community

We believe in teaching children the value of kindness, both to others and to the world around them. Our little ones love getting involved in local litter picks, using teamwork and care to help tidy nearby parks and green spaces. Guided by our Eco Council, these experiences not only build environmental awareness but also help children understand the impact they can have in their community, no matter how small their steps.
