About Us
Kids Planet Gedling
The Kids Planet Gedling nursery is surrounded by nature in a quiet, relaxing, and rural location, nestled into the side of Gedling House Woods.
With light-filled, spacious rooms and a true home-from-home feel, our nursery is a place where children can grow to be their best selves. We offer open, supportive opportunities to engage their imagination, fuel their creativity and give meaningful experiences to support all children for the future. We pride ourselves on our outdoor opportunities, and play is encouraged in all weathers to support resilience, curiosity, and wellbeing.
We spend as much time as possible in the outdoors, whether that be our gardens with purposeful spaces for play, or in our local woodland exploring everything nature has to offer. We provide daily ‘forest school’ style sessions, giving children the chance to light fires, use tools, build dens, explore the natural world, and engage in seasonal, hands-on learning.
These experiences promote high self-esteem, support independence, and build deep connections with the environment. Our experienced and passionate team are here to provide high-quality early years education in a safe, supportive environment, where nature and nurture come together to help every child flourish.
Nicola Oakes
ManagerI have been working in the childcare sector for over 15 years and I have loved every moment. I have been working within the company for 5 years and share my passion for early years education with anyone I can, it is a true privilege to be part of a child's formative years and to give them the tools they need to succeed. Within my training I have been fortunate to travel to Italy and study the Reggio Emilia approach which I have since introduced to this nursery. Giving children the opportunities to lead their own play and provide experiences which grow and build upon their ideas is extremely rewarding and it is woven through our setting each and every day. As a manager it is deeply important to me that I get to know all of the children and you will often find me building obstacle courses in the garden, playing with puppets or getting stuck in with clay!
