About Great Sankey
Kids Planet Great Sankey is a place for families as well as children, with stay-and-play sessions and wellbeing coffee mornings welcoming parents into nursery life. Our converted 19th-century church hall has light-filled rooms for babies through to preschoolers, including a sensory room and outdoor space for exploring.
Our outdoor space is where we run outdoor School sessions with our sports coach, while visits to parks and the library connect children with the local area. Our team uses these experiences to support their learning through play and curiosity. Flexible sessions are available, with an early-bird option from 7–7.30am for families who need an earlier start.

Alexandra McDonough
ManagerAlex has over 10 years’ experience within early years and has worked as a deputy manager since 2020. She has joined Great Sankey in May 2024 as the Nursery Manager. Alex is extremely passionate about delivering a high standard of care and teaching to the children and building strong links with our families and local community. Alex has two children herself with a great passion for outdoors & nature based learning and strives for children to learn and thrive in all environments.

Our dedicated sensory room is a peaceful and engaging environment designed to support children’s emotional wellbeing and sensory exploration. Whether it’s helping babies settle or offering a calming experience for children with additional needs, the space is filled with tactile resources, gentle lighting, and sensory-rich play opportunities. It’s a valuable part of our nursery that promotes focus, emotional regulation, and early development in a supportive and nurturing setting.
