Kids Planet is passionate about getting stuck into the local community, spreading positivity and encouraging kindness and thoughtfulness. Through building close relationships and strong links with local businesses and groups, we encourage our teams and children to learn all about the importance of community spirit and giving back.
From supporting local organisations and charities through fundraising events and sponsorships to offering additional support to families and individuals in need, here’s how Kids Planet has been getting involved in the local community recently:
Our Blackrod nursery, located in the heart of Bolton, has close links with the local community and has recently collected food and provisions for local food banks, including Trussell Trust. Trussell Trust is a charity that campaigns to end the need for food banks within the UK and provides emergency food and support to people in poverty.
The Kids Planet Blackrod staff railed together with the support of parents to collect over four shopping bags of donated food, toiletries and dry goods that were on the recommended list supplied by the trust.
Collecting food for the community allowed the children of Blackrod nursery to focus on what it means to be kind and was a great opportunity for them to see the impact that their donations had on the local community.
Kids Planet Blackrod had such a good response from this and our Nursery Manager, Chloe Hallworth, says it was a lovely experience – one they are looking forward to doing again in the future.

Kids Planet Davenport frequently pays a visit to the residents at Stable Steps Care Home for a day of activities, stories and smiles. Each month, a group of 10-12 children will travel to the care home where they’ll read stories, participate in creative activities and play with the residents.
There are many benefits of socialising across the generations for both seniors and children, from improving and encouraging social interactions with adults and the elderly and learning respect for the older generations for children. And the residents benefit from social interactions with the children which helps battle loneliness and improves overall mental health and well-being.

Where ever we can, we like to take part in fundraising events to raise money for local and national charities and organisations. Getting the children involved provides them with a great sense of achievement and many hours of fun!
The Salford Quays nursery has recently been working hard to raise money for the children’s charity Med Equip 4 Kids; a charity that works to improve the health and well-being of children and provide specialist equipment for children in hospitals.
Kids Planet Salford Quays have entered to race against other businesses in the popular Salford Quays Duck Race 2023 on April 7th 2023 where they’ll be raising money for Med Equip 4 Kids. Not only is this a fun and interactive way to raise money for a great cause, but it also makes for an amazing day out for the family!
Staff at our Billinge nursery have also braved the shave to raise money for children undergoing treatment at the Alder Hey Hospital. Their selflessness and dedication to the cause meant they raised an impressive £1,075 for the ward.

Participating in sports has many benefits – from the physical to the social and mental. That’s why we’re huge supporters of our local team, Fylde Rugby Community Foundation. We’re proud to sponsor such a great foundation that engages preschool aged children in the sport of rugby.
The Rugratz Rugby initiative set up by Fylde Rugby Community Foundation is available to children up to the age of four and offers sessions that include coaching new skills and many fun games that teach children safe contact sports, develop hand-eye coordination and improve social skills in a sporting environment.
Our sponsorship gives parents, guardians and children who wouldn’t be able to afford to attend these sessions the opportunity to participate. You can learn more about our sponsorship and how to get involved here.
Community involvement plays a vital role in the development of children and can provide them with a sense of belonging and a feeling of being part of something bigger than themselves. Children who are involved in their communities are more likely to develop strong social skills, including empathy, communication, and teamwork.
Through community engagement, young children can learn to understand and appreciate the diversity of individuals, cultures, and ideas that exist within their communities. They can also gain exposure to new experiences and opportunities, which can broaden their perspectives and spark new interests.
