Kids Planet’s North Wales Family Grows

Company News

11 July 2024

We are delighted to announce two acquisitions: The Wendy House Day Nursery in Brynford, and Snuggles Day Nursery in Denbigh.

The introduction of these two settings expands Kids Planet’s presence in North Wales, after our first step into the region in January with the acquisition of Springfield’s group.

The Wendy House is a purpose-built nursery set in a lovely village location with surrounding countryside views.

Snuggles serves the families of Denbigh and local communities, also operating an out-of-school club, Snuggle Juniors, at the nearby Ysgol Frongoch.

Clare Roberts, CEO of Kids Planet Day Nurseries, said:

“I am pleased to welcome Snuggles and The Wendy House into the Kids Planet family, growing our presence in North Wales with nurseries that align with our own ethos for high-quality education and care with the child at the centre. The nurseries come with excellent teams, with strong reputations built over a number of years. We look forward to supporting the settings and families moving forward.”

Tina Griffiths, previous owner of Snuggles, said:

“After 23 years of successfully running our business, we made the tough decision to sell the nursery. We carefully considered our options and felt that Kids Planet are aligned with everything we strived for. They share our ethos on delivering a family-centred approach, focused on the details of children’s welfare and development whilst providing the highest standards of care for children. The process is overwhelming, but Kids Planet were very supportive throughout and brought joy to an emotional ending to our time at Snuggles. It’s the end of an era, but an exciting future lies ahead. We are confident that the business will continue to thrive under Kids Planet.”

Wendy Powell, previous owner of The Wendy House, said:

“I set up The Wendy House 34 years ago with two young children of my own and a passion for pre-school care and education. With a lot of hard work and dedication over the years the nursery has developed an excellent reputation. It made the decision to sell hard but it is right time for me to step back, now having two young grandchildren. A challenging process was made far easier by Kids planet who have been empathetic and supportive, making the transition as easy as possible for all involved. I wish them the very best as they continue on their exciting journey.”

Kids Planet Day Nurseries has grown to 195 settings across the UK through a combination of acquisition and greenfield developments. Our focus continues to be acquiring existing nursery settings that fit with our values for the highest quality in childcare and seeking development opportunities to build our geographical presence.
