Launch of new Outdoor Learning Apprenticeship

The Kids Planet Training Academy is thrilled to have launched a new Level 5 Outdoor Learning Specialist Apprenticeship.

This apprenticeship supports both outdoor leads (such as sports coaches) and Udeskole leads (within our very own outdoor learning accreditation), in the design planning and delivery of programmes that provide a range of outdoor learning experiences for early years using sport, outdoor activities and experiences supporting wellbeing, connection to nature, and simply a love of being outdoors.

This week at the Academy, the team held an Induction for the first cohort of Outdoor Leads undertaking the Outdoor Learning Specialist Level 5 Apprenticeship.

What is a Level 5 Outdoor Learning Specialist at Kids Planet?

Following the completion of this apprenticeship, the Outdoor Learning Specialist will be responsible for leading on outdoor activities, having developed the knowledge, skills, and behaviours needed in early years setings to be proactive and influential, skilfully learning outdoor day-to-day practice at an operational level. Not only that, they will understand the context of outdoor learning and the positive impact it can have on the lives and wellbeing of children and young people.

Whether they aspire to be a Sports Coach, Udeskole Lead or Forest School Lead, undertaking this apprenticeship provides learners with the ability to reflect and build on practice through ongoing professional enquiry and action research.
