About Us

Kids Planet Jack Straws Lane

Kids Planet Jack Straws Lane is an exclusive nursery for staff and students at the University of Oxford, located near local hospitals in a well-connected part of the city. The nursery features bright, airy rooms and a dedicated on-site woodland area, where children are encouraged to explore and learn through nature.

Our carefully planned spaces offer age-specific environments where children can play, grow, and build confidence at their own pace. From babies to pre-schoolers, every child is supported by a passionate, experienced team committed to nurturing their development and wellbeing.

We’re proud to offer Udeskole sessions, our nature-based learning approach, alongside regular Forest School activities, helping to build resilience, curiosity, and a deeper connection with the world around them. Having recently achieved Inspire accreditation, we’re recognised for delivering high-quality, child-centred education that fosters independence and a lifelong love of learning.

Awe and Wonder in Every Corner

Natural Curiosity Outdoors

At Jack Straws Lane, the natural world plays a big role in how children learn and grow. Our dedicated woodland area is a space for adventure, where children explore the wonders of nature through Udeskole-inspired activities. Whether it’s muddy play in the outdoor kitchen, learning to cook safely on an open fire, or observing the changing seasons, every moment is packed with awe and wonder.

These real-world experiences help children build problem-solving skills, confidence, and a love for outdoor learning, all supported by our experienced team.

Inspiring Creativity Through Play

Creativity Through Movement and Music

Children at Jack Straws Lane benefit from a rich mix of sessions designed to inspire movement, creativity, and joy. From weekly music sessions with the Music Man, filled with instruments, rhythm, and dance, to engaging sports mornings for under 2s, there’s always something exciting to look forward to.

These sessions support expressive arts and design, physical development, and confidence building, all while having lots of fun with friends.

Park Walks & Library Visits

Exploring the Community

We love getting out and about to explore our local community. Regular trips to the park offer opportunities for children to discover nature, observe wildlife, and enjoy physical activity through sports sessions led by our nursery sports coach. Our visits to the nearby library are just as exciting. Children choose their own books, share stories with their peers, and build early literacy skills in a new, inspiring environment.

Follow us on Facebook to see more of our little adventures and community connections!
