About Us

Kids Planet Mapperley South

At Kids Planet Mapperley South, children are encouraged to follow their own interests with flexible, child-led activities that help them achieve their next steps. Outdoor learning is central to our approach, with Forest School sessions that build confidence, resilience, and teamwork while supporting wellbeing in the fresh air. We also make the most of our garden spaces, complete with an allotment for growing vegetables and a fire pit for storytelling and marshmallow toasting.

Our preschool children enjoy adventures on our bus, heading out to explore local woodlands and learn new skills in nature. Alongside this, we celebrate special days and cultural events, creating memorable experiences that bring children, families, and staff together. Strong links with our local community, from shops and libraries to charity visits, further enrich nursery life and give children a sense of belonging.

Tiffany Keen

Manager

I’ve been in childcare for 17 years now, starting my adventure as an apprentice in 2008 and becoming a nursery manager in 2015. For the past three years, I've been at Mapperley South and have also managed our sister settings: Mapperley, Sherwood, and Country Park. Working with children has always been my passion! As a leader, my aim has always been to offer top-quality care alongside my wonderful team. We take pride in giving every child the best possible start on their unique learning journeys. I hold a Level 3 qualification in childcare, along with my paediatric first aid certification. I also take on the role of designated safeguarding lead and support the nursery's SEND coordinator, ensuring we provide inclusive care for all children.

Outdoor learning that inspires growth

Exploring Nature Every Day

Outdoor play and Forest School sessions are at the heart of Mapperley South. From running, climbing, and team games to woodland exploration and allotment gardening, children develop strength, coordination, and confidence. Our fire pit and nature-inspired activities spark curiosity, encourage problem-solving, and support wellbeing, making the outdoors a true extension of our classroom.

Learning through joy and tradition

Celebrating Special Moments

We love marking special occasions with fun, meaningful activities. From stay-and-play tea parties on Mother’s Day to Easter bonnet parades, Eid feasts, and animal encounters, celebrations bring learning to life. These events nurture creativity, build social connections, and foster a sense of belonging for children and families alike.
