Our Davenport Nursery Walk For Prader-Willi Foundation

Davenport

2 August 2018

Staff from Kids Planet Davenport took part in a charity One Small Step Pub Walk for Bella last month in aid of The Foundation for Prader-Willi Research UK (FPWR UK).

Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) affects just one in 20,000 children born in the UK. Causing a constant desire to eat food, driven by a permanent feeling of hunger, it can lead to dangerous weight gain and restricted growth resulting in reduced muscle tone, short stature, learning difficulties and behavioural problems.

Raising a total of £510 towards advancing research and effective treatments of the syndrome, the staff at the Davenport nursery walked 12.5 miles between each of the Almond pubs starting at the Fletchers Arms in Denton and finishing at the Hesketh Tavern in Cheadle Hulme.

Now in its fifth year, the One Small Step walk for Bella who attended Kids Planet and who was diagnosed with PWS when she was two weeks old, has raised a total of £11,500 this year.

“We’re delighted to have been able to take part in this amazing charity walk, and we’d like to thank everybody who supported us and helped to raise money”, Natalie Littlewood, Davenport Nursery Manager.
