With around six acres of grounds, Kids Planet Barkston Ash gives children plenty of space to discover outdoors. Our village nursery near Selby and Tadcaster in North Yorkshire has been established for more than 30 years and is spread across three buildings, with landscaped outdoor areas for exploration and active play.
Our nurturing and qualified team supports your child’s learning through the experiences these surroundings offer, helping them get involved and develop their own ideas and connect with the world around them. We also run an Out of School Club, extending care beyond the early years. It gives local families another way to organise childcare once their children are attending school.

Leanne Batley
ManagerMy name is Leanne Batley, and I am the Nursery Manager at Kids Planet Barkston Ash. I have been part of the Sunbeams/Kids Planet family since 2009, beginning my journey at Kids Planet Austhorpe. I started working in the preschool room and progressed to the role of Nursery Manager in 2014. Over my 11 years at Austhorpe, I developed extensive knowledge and experience within the early years sector. I am passionate about child development and enjoy working closely with practitioners to create rich, engaging learning environments for children. I am equally committed to supporting my team, helping to develop their skills and providing training to support their career progression. Building strong relationships with children and their families is something I truly value, and I take great pride in supporting them from their first days at nursery through to their transition to school.
